Rev. Charles Edward (C.E.) Williams, Sr. was born July 9, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Allen Pearson and Essie R. (Anderson) Williams. He passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2016 in Naples, Texas.
C.E. was a graduate of Hurndon High School, Belcher, Louisiana, and attended Lamar Bible Institute in Paris, Texas, L.K. Williams Institute in Dallas, Texas and Northeast Texas Community College, Mt. Pleasant. He met and married Vanassa Waters in 1985.
He was the Pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Naples, Texas for 19 years and the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas for 31 years. He was the president of the Ministers Alliance and a member of the Masons; he was the Co-founder and served as President of the Gilmer Citywide Fellowship. He retired as a Drag Line Operator from Texas Utilities Mining Company.
He was preceded in death by his father Allen Pearson, his mother’s Essie R. Williams and Clara Wilson, his two sons Jeffery Charles Williams and Angel Williams; a daughter Charlesly Williams; a brother Henry Reed and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Vanassa Williams of Naples, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law Charles Edward, Jr. and Shavonne Williams of Mansfield, Texas; his two daughters Glinda Faye Williams of Denton, Texas and Cindy Renea Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one nephew Larry Turner of Alexandria, Louisiana; and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
