Imogene Garrett known to many as “Mama Jean” was born April 15, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Lummie and Stella (Winn) Garrett. She passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
Mrs. Garrett was a faithful member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, Texas where she was a member of the Imperial Choir and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Class of 1942. Before retiring, she worked many years for Pilgrim Pride.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her grandson Garrett Palmer; her sisters Jidida Garrett, Nina Lou Garrett, Thelma Garrett, Earnestine Black, Jadie Smith, Cornelious Garrett, Odastine Garrett; brothers Christopher C. Garrett, Jr., J.C. Garrett, Willie Garrett and T.C. Garrett.
She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life a daughter Betty Faye Norman of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law Chester and Lois Palmer of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
