Jerry J. Jones was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 22, 1946 to Leo and Vesta (Attaway) Jones.  He was a member of the First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas and worked many years in Construction.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines having served in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife Rena Faye Jones, a granddaughter and one brother Larry Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters and a son-in-law Tracy and Juan Lane of Columbus, GA, Lisa Wright of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren La Porsha Rodgers, Ashley Rodgers Reyes and her husband Javier all of Dallas, Texas, Trendi Lane and JaJuan Lane both of Columbus, GA,  two other grandsons of Dallas, Texas; two great grandchildren Jaqualin and Kenya;  one brother Gary Jones of Dallas, Texas; two sisters his twin sister Janette Jones Briscoe of Mexia, Texas and Vesta Marie Attaway of Sacramento, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
