The Life and Legacy of our Beloved Nancy Myrl Buford
Nancy Myrl Buford, 59 of Longview, Texas found peace in the embrace of our Heavenly Father on February 25, 2018 at Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. She was the seventh child born to the parentage of Lonnie and Culessa (Johnson) Buford on February 14, 1959 in Atlanta, Texas.
Nancy spent the early years of her life in Naples, Texas engaged in childhood and religious activities. She began playing the piano at the age of eight and used her gift from the Lord to serve the east Texas community as a musician for over thirty years. Her exceptional gift helped others to be drawn closer to Him.
As a 1977 graduate of Paul H. Pewitt High School in Omaha, Texas, Nancy continued her love for learning; obtaining a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She later became an exceptional Cosmetologist and Insurance Agent. Nancy possessed many talents and gifts and was a spiritual counselor to many; always advising others to seek God’s will for their lives, and to glorify his Kingdom through selfless devotion.
Nancy was a loving mother to all of her children and grandchildren. She possessed grace and humility and loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. She will be remembered for the quiet dignity that she displayed, a zest for life, and the love and wisdom she shared with others.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Culessa (Johnson) Buford, father, Lonnie Buford, brothers, James Earl and Cleo Edmond Buford, Sr., and sisters, Esther Vernell and Norma Faye Buford.
Nancy leaves a full and rich family to cherish her memory and continue a legacy of love and service: sons Kelly Maurice Buford, Sr. (Shelunda “Nikki”) and Troyas Draeon Buford, granddaughters, Tori, Kelasia and Tia Buford, grandsons, TreVeon McAfee, De’Andre Drish, and Kelly Maurice Buford, Jr. She will be forever loved and treasured by her sister, Deborah Geneva Buford Barbour of Balch Springs, Texas, brother, Lloyd Calvin Buford (Noble), and sisters-in-laws Sally Buford of Naples, Texas, and Carolyn Buford of Waller, Texas. Nancy’s life legacy will continued to be celebrated by her paternal Aunt, Daisy Spence of Los Angeles, California, maternal aunt, Luella Holley of Naples, Texas, goddaughter Jasmine Dowden, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Miss Hiawatha Bird, who selflessly gave her time, love, and resources to support Nancy unconditionally throughout their friendship.
