Sam O. Richmond was born May 3, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Codella (Sears) and Bob Richmond.  He died Friday, September 16, 2016 in Tyler, Texas. 

Sam received his formal education in the Blundis Creek Public School, Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon returning to Mt. Pleasant, Sam met and married Thelma Norman of the Piney Community in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and to the union they were blessed with one son, Sammie Richmond.  He later married Vernesia Eaton of Mt. Pleasant.   Sam was a faithful Christian of the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant. He held several career positions and was also known as “the jack of all trades.”

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wives, a sister and brother.   

He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter Arlene Richmond Wright of Dallas, Texas; three sons and a daughter-in-law Sammie and Adalia Richmond of Longview, Texas; Terrick Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Gabriel Booker of Ft. Worth, Texas; stepchildren Mattie Lee and L.B. Standberry of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Georgia Ann Adair and Linda Bell both of Dallas, Texas; Marvin and Rhonda Jeffery of Hallsville, Texas; a very special cousin Emma Jean Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Texas;  23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
