Adolphus Ray (Donnie) Gaston
He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on March 11, 1957 to Alfred and Hazel (Brooks) Gaston. Mr. Gaston died Monday, April 30, 2018 in Longview.
He attended Mt. Pleasant High School, Mt. Pleasant. He was an honorably discharged veteran having served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1977-1981. While in the military, he obtained his Mechanic’s Certification. He married Lora Beckton and to this union three children were born; Richie, Donta and Michelle. Adolphus, in his early years, was a member at Sunset Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. He later became a member at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Longview. He was currently employed with Trinity Rail in Longview. He was very involved in the Narcotics Anonymous and was in his 7th year of sobriety. Adolphus struggled many years with an addiction, but God delivered him, and he was able to wonderfully turn his life around. He was loved and a down to earth Godfearing man.
He was preceded in death by his father Alfred Gaston and his brother Michael Gaston; his stepfather Bartell Justice.
He leaves to cherish his memories and to celebrate his life, his son Donta Gaston of Dallas, Texas; two daughters Richie Beckton Smith (David) and Michelle Beckton all of Longview, Texas; five grandchildren, Keatra King, Michael Traylor, II, Diamond Smith, Jakayla Bravo, David Smith, Jr., all of Longview, Texas; his mother Hazel Gaston Justice of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; his brothers and sisters-in-law Terry and Mary Gaston of Texarkana, Texas; Cleon Gaston; Alton Clay Gaston, Johnny and Eleanor Gaston, Wylie Gaston all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Tyrone and Mutrissie Gaston of Queen City, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
