Alice Marie Brown Johnson was born on June 26, 1927 to Perry Evans, Sr. and Etta Turner Evans. She was one of eight (8) children born to this union. Alice received her early education in Morris County, Texas. Early on she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in Omaha, Texas. Later in life, she placed her membership with Oak Grove Church of Christ in Cason, Texas where she was a faithful member until her health failed. Alice married Oliver Brown on April 17, 1943 in Morris County, Texas and to this union seven children were born. She later met and married L. M. Johnson for a short period of time. Alice was known by everyone for her household management and phenomenal cooking/baking skills. She exuded a warm and giving spirit, and always had a home-cooked meal ready for her family and friends. Alice was known for displaying her illustrious taste in fashion while also showcasing her love of makeup. As the quintessential proverbial woman, Alice was dedicated to being a woman who loved, served and honored God. Alice peacefully departed this life on October 6, 2018 at her home in Cason, Texas. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Perry and Etta; husband of 36 years, Oliver Brown; sons, Donald Ray Brown, Charles Earl Brown and Billy Earl Brown; granddaughters, Lillie Rene Brown Day and Brenda Ann Brown Shavers; sisters, Ella Mae Mitchell and Annie Lee Hill; brothers, Jake Evans and Perry Evans, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Vivian Ann Taylor of Denver Colorado, Deborah Stevens of Westminster, Colorado, Brenda Joyce Houston (Morris) of Plano, Texas and Kathy Louise Johnson (Curtis “Pop”) of Cason, Texas; special daughter-in-law, Marine Brown-Lawton; sisters, Dorothy Lee of DeSoto, Texas, Mary Bolden of Houston, Texas and Edvernell Davenport of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Smith of Cason, Texas and Margaret Brooks of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; thirteen (13) grandchildren, thirty (30) great grandchildren, twelve (12) great great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly.
