Donald Norman Obituary

Donald Ray Norman

Donald Ray Norman was born June 5, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to T. George and Willie Jewel (Howard) Norman.   Don was the only son of the three children born to this union.  He passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Don was an active member of Church of Christ at Sheppard Street where he taught class, lead songs and was the church’s bus driver.  He was a faithful member, having walked to service most Sunday’s and Wednesday nights.  He was a graduate of Texas High, Texarkana, Texas and attended Texarkana Community College.   Don was a retired Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a veteran of the U.S. Army.   He loved watching Westerns and would often say to everyone “I love you all and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it!”

He was preceded in death by his father T. George Norman, his stepfather Johnnie Ray, maternal grandparents Casey and Sarah Howard, paternal grandparents Hattie and Steve Norman, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons Donald Ray Norman, II of San Antonio, Texas, Durrell Rashad Norman of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter and son-in-law Yaschika and Jonathan Gipson of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren Jonas Gipson, Simone Gipson, Bailey Gipson all of Dallas; his mother Willie Jewel Ray of Texarkana, Texas;  two sisters Diane Norman of Dallas, Texas and Debra Rhodes of Texarkana, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
