Grace Mosley Obituary

Grace Evelyn McGill Mosley was born August 2, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant Texas to Tom and Beatrice (Canister) McGill. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Mt. Pleasant.

In her early years, she joined and remained a member of the White Oak Baptist Church.  She attended the White Oak School and later graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Mt. Pleasant, Class of 1950.  Grace married Leo Mosley in 1955 and to this union, one daughter, Jacqueline, was born.  She went on to graduate from Wade’s Beauty School in Tyler.  She worked over 50 years as a self-employed Beautician, having owned her own business.  For many years, she served as President/Chairman of the Election Polls for Precinct 2.  Grace was honored through AARP for paying it forward in her community.  She was selected to receive free fuel from Tanks of Thanks, a program that recognizes people who go the extra mile for others.   Mama Grace serviced many people throughout the surrounding area.  Grace was a giver of her talents, often donating her services.  If you were hungry, she fed you and never asked for anything in return.  She served as a surrogate mother to many children throughout the community and surrounding areas.  She was quick witted and had a remarkable sense of humor.  She was a true pillar of the community and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters Earlene Donaldson, Margretta Brooks, Pat Henrietta Williams, Tommie Byrd and Eula Williams; her brothers Edward McGill, Bombus McGill, Johnnie McGill, Milton McGill, Henry McGill, Charles McGill, and Melvin McGill.

However, left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted daughter Jacqueline Mosley-McKinley; her brothers Otis McGill (Beverly) of Denver, CO, Rufus McGill of Mt. Pleasant and Louis McGill of Sulphur Springs; her sisters Jo Ella Thornton of Mt. Pleasant; and Clara Harper of Spokane, WA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous other relatives and friends.
