Michael Leonard Howard, was born February 19, 1958 in Waxahachie, Texas. He passed away, August 19, 2019, in Plano, Texas.
Michael was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1976. He briefly attended Tyler Junior College. Michael was a certified Nurses Aide for 26 years. He was liked by residents and family members. Michael loved people and was always one to re-tell “corny jokes” to his mother, who never got the point, and his sister who always did. He was a true fisherman who would go out on the lake in a leaky boat every chance he got until he became disabled in 2016. He loved to cook, declaring that his potato salad tasted better than his sisters and could fry up some crappies at the family fish fry’s. Thelma who claimed not to like fish, became a fish eater after a few dozen of the family dinners and declared that the Howard’s ate more fish than any others she knew. Ironically, Michael insisted that before checking in to the hospital in Plano, that he has “his last meal” at the Fish Shack. He proceeded to order and eat a plate of catfish, shrimp, oysters, fries and hushpuppies for the tune of $25.29, remembering later that he had forgotten to order coleslaw. Michael recently united with the First Assembly of God Church, Pastor Don White.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories his wife Thelma Lee Howard; parents Marilyn and Charles Howard; his daughters Jackie Miller and Demetria Miller, Serina McFarland; stepchildren Roderick Rogers and Jessica Rogers, grandchildren Dream Veasley, Jeremy Johnson, Jr., Jaylynn Miller, Jalquesha Miller, Mckinley Lindley, Alexander McFarland; great grandson Bless Edney; his sister Melanie (Sherry) Howard, brother Eric Howard; niece Candace Howard; great niece and nephew Cherise Williams and Jeremiah Bridges; uncles and aunts John and Linda Howard, William (Bennie) and Lillie Howard, Caroline Howard, Willie Jewel Ray, Shirley and Roy Ivory, Linda Moton; special friends Roderick Watson and Lisa Lewis; numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.
