Warner Baxter Wilkerson was born December 28, 1936 to Lee and Cornelia (Scott) Wilkerson. He passed away, peacefully, on Monday, November 5, 2018.
He was a member of First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant and Stevens Temple Church of God in Christ in Dallas. He was a 1954 graduate Booker T. Washington High School, Mt. Pleasant, serving as President and Valedictorian of his class. He attended Texas College, Tyler and was a graduate of Iowa State and Cal State Universities. He received degrees in Biology and two master’s degree in Food Technology/Bacteriology and Librarianship. He moved to Chicago where he was employed with Armour Meat Company in the Research Dept. While there, he changed his career from Food Technology/Biologist to Librarian. He later moved to Haywood, California where he was employed with Cal State University, and where he received his master’s degree in Librarianship. He retired from Cal State after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Zelma Carter, Bobbie Jo Asberry, Lucille Jenkins, Lillian Rogers, Jessie B. Hardaway, Mary Frances Williams, Johnnie L. Wilkerson, Jimmy Wilkerson, Willie Ray Wilkerson.
He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers and a sister-in-law Billy Wilkerson, Preston and Essie Wilkerson, all of Dallas; a caring nephew Arthur Rogers of DeSoto; and a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
