Winfred Earl Traylor (Bucky), was born July 24, 1947 in Cason, to Dyke and Odessa (Doddy) Traylor. He died, Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
He attended Central Grove, Cason and was a 1967 graduate JJ Rhoades High School, Daingerfield. He was drafted into the US Marines and served from 1967-1970. He earned three Purple Hearts,a Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal. He met and married the love of his life Shirley Sampson from Naples, Texas and they were united in holy matrimony on October 27, 1972. Together they raised four awesome sons, Thalmus, Edward Charles, Nigel and Jamil. He loved and was a fantastic Paw Paw to his two grands Briana and Braxten. Winfred loved family and people in general. He would help anybody, often giving more than he received. Winfred was a faithful and devoted member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He later became a member of the New Birth Baptist Church, Lone Star, where he served as chairman of deacons and was an active deacon. He was a father figure to many men and women, a brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dyke and Odessa, twin sisters Darlene and Charlene.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 46 years Shirley Traylor, sons Thalmus Traylor, Ft. Worth, Texas; Edward Charles Traylor and Nigel Traylor, Longview, Texas; Jamil Traylor (Brittany), Mt. Vernon, Texas; two grandchildren Briana and Braxten Traylor; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law Willie James Turner, Cason, Texas; Travis C. Sampson, Jr., Naples, Texas; Geraldine and Gene Cannon, Omaha, Texas; Onie and James Nichols, Ft. Worth, Texas; Debra and Lonnie Young, Houston, Texas; two adopted daughters Christi Linwood Taylor, Greenville and Courtney Shay Ellison, Ft. Worth, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
