Lucius Kirk McGill was born May 7, 1929 to Ellie and Zenobia (Baker) McGill in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School Mt. Pleasant Class of 1949. He met his loving wife Lodessia Brown and they joined in marriage. He was employed for 25 years with MB Kaiser Heating and Air Conditioner in Dallas, Texas and then 30 years as a Security Guard with Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, Mt. Pleasant, Texas before retiring. Bishop McGill, began his ministry in 1959 and began Full Gospel in 1961. He was the Bishop and Founding Pastor of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church which organized in 1979 and became the Full Gospel Pentecostal Bereans, Incorporated –with church locations in Mt. Pleasant, Commerce, Sulphur Springs, Naples and Bogata. He was well known for spreading the gospel all across the community and the East Texas area. His favorite scripture was Hebrews 13:8- “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” He was awarded a proclamation from the City of Mt. Pleasant on his 90th birthday. Apostle loved his cows and boots.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife of 63 years Lodessia McGill, his granddaughter Lisa Michelle McGill and six brothers Timothy, Oscar, Billy Joe, James, Frank and Ellie Glen.
He leaves to cherish his memories and to celebrate his life his two sons and daughters-in-law Lucius J. and Barbara McGill, Larry and Olympia McGill all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; two daughters Lola J. McGill of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Lenedia McGill Sanders of Las Vegas, NV; 12 grandchildren Candace, Bryan, Natoya, Natasha, Ambreasha, Jaazlynne, Troy, Zenobia, Gabrielle, Buddy, Karsyn, Gabrielle; 15 great grandchildren including Jamald and Joshua; his six sisters and brothers-in-law Alice and Virgil Hickman of Los Angeles, CA, Bennie and Esco Hollins, Janevite Davis all of Kansas, Mattie and Melvin Rutherford of Hawkins, Texas, Oza McClain, Violet and Chauncy Tipton all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with special cousin Tony McGill and family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
