George Albert ("Lil George") Turner Jr.

George Albert Turner Jr. “Lil George” was born June 29, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to George Albert and Virginia (Nelson) Turner. He passed away, peacefully, at home on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

George was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Mt. Pleasant, Texas Class of 1967.  After High school, George enlisted in the United States Army. 

He met his bride, Verma Jean Jones, and they united in marriage on May 5, 1973. To this union one beautiful baby girl was born, Jeana Georgette Turner.

George loved sports and liked playing dominoes.  He enjoyed listening to spirituals and the blues.  He was very talented and could play any instrument by ear.  He also loved to fish.

George was employed with Red River Army Depot, Dorchester Refinery and spent his last years before retiring as a self employed Landscaper.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jeana; his father and mother; brother Joe Amos Cuellar; his brothers-in-law Findley Lyons and Lavell Jones. 

George leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years Verma Jean Turner of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law Dixie Lyons of Houston, Texas, Laura Dixon of Dallas, Texas, Betty Portis of Springfield, OH, Mary and James Watson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sisters-in-law Lendell Jones, Patricia Jones, Lula Cuellar all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
