J.L. Morgan was born September 21, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Jake Morgan and Nellie Brooks.
J.L loved life and he never met a stranger. He attended White Oak Community School and was a member of the Independent Hope Baptist Church. He started working at a young age and he loved to work and always gave it his all. He worked for Billy Garrett Feed Store. He also worked for Dorchester Refinery and retired from Luminant, Mt. Pleasant, after 20 years of service. He was the former co- owner of M & M Detail Shop in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Jake and Nellie, his son J.L. Morgan Jr., brothers Jimmy Morgan and T.L. Brown, Jr., sisters Ora Dean Minter and Arthur Mae Walker.
Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife Laura Morgan of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; four sons and daughters-in-law John and Telesa Morgan, Ray Morgan, Joshua and Kiome Morgan, Solomon Morgan all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; two daughters Lorraine Morgan Brannon of Longview, Texas, Gloria Morgan Grant of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; his three brothers J.T. Morgan, Jerry Morgan and Rayford Brown, all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; six sisters and three brothers-in-law Mary Morgan Lewis, Linda and A.J. Lewis all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Carol and Darren Butler of Longview, Texas, Artice and Frank Johnson, Beverly Curtis, Frances Brown both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews; his uncle and aunt Rev. John M. and Angela Brooks of Pittsburg, Texas; aunts Margaret Brooks and Billie Jean Morgan both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
