James Robert Lee was born November 22, 1935 to Willie and Mary (Black) Lee in Daingerfield, Texas.
James was a member of the Steven Temple Church of God in Christ, Dallas, Texas and the First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He attended Booker T. Washington High School Mt. Pleasant. He met his loving wife Dorothy Marie and they joined in marriage in 1959. He was self -employed, having owned and operated his own Janitorial Service before retiring. “Uncle James”, as he was fondly called by his family and friends, was well known for his illustrious smile. He displayed love to all he knew.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his grandparents Willie Lee & Sylvia Whitmore, William Black & Lucy Jane Petty, Amos Lee & Sudie Lee, James Pompie Black & Saphronia Reeno, and Henry Reeno & Harriet Runes; his mother-in-law Marie Moore. He was also preceded by his sisters Katherine Heath, Myrtlene Cooks, Rosetta “Sister” Chappell, Helen Smith; brothers William “Brother” Lee, brothers-in-law John Owens, Richard Brewer, Otha Chapelle, Tommie Cook, Johnny B. Neal; sisters-in-law Jimmie Helen Neal and Ramona Tabb.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 61 years Dorothy Marie Lee of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; five sisters Vernice Lee, Merlissa Brewer, Mary Owens, Lyndia Lee and Anna Lee and a brother-in-law Jimmy Ray Smith; sister-in-law Patricia Williams and a host of nieces and nephews, many of whom he treated like his own children. He was a rare treasure, loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
