Jerry Wayne Washington was born November 19, 1956 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to his loving parents Jesse Dean (J.D.) Ivory and Joann Washington along with his brothers Billy Glen Washington (Tom,) Carl Ray Washington, Gary Lee Walker (Peter Rabbit,) and sisters Sarah King-Waitmon, Cynthia Rena King, and Theresa Walker. He was raised during his teenage years in Dallas by his Aunt Bessie and Uncle James Hillery.
During his time in Dallas, Jerry attended North Dallas High School, graduating in May 1975. From high school, he then went on to join the military and enlisted in the Airforce in June 1975 until January 1979. He met his wife Teresa Washington in 1978 while stationed overseas at the Lakenheath military airbase (Suffolk, England U.K.) of whom he was married to until his passing. They have two children together, Jesse Wayne Washington and Theresa Taliaferra Rodgers. Jerry also has two grandchildren Jordan and Jasmine Rodgers.
After returning to the U.S. from his military duties, Jerry enrolled in college and received his Associates Degree in Aviation Technology. He held a life long career in the aviation engineering industry, working for many companies most notably Kitty Hawk and American Airlines, from which he was retired in 2020. His passions were airplanes and motorcycles.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father and community member. He was an honored member of the St. Paul AME Church in Mount Pleasant, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Billy, sisters Sarah and Cynthia, aunts Christine, Bessie and Uncle James.
He leaves loving and cherished memories to his surviving family members, wife of 42 years Teresa Washington, children Theresa Rodgers, and Jesse Washington (of Cambridge, England,) grandchildren Jordan and Jasmine Rodgers, Brothers Carl Ray Washington and Gary Lee Walker, Sister Theresa Walker and a host of other friends and relatives.
