Lottie Selena Campbell was born June 15, 1938 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to George A. Merrell and Josephine Merrell Chapman. She died peacefully, at home on Monday, October 21, 2019.
Lottie, at an early age, united with True Light Baptist Church of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Royal Street High School, Class of 1957. Lottie was married to Willie Cooks for a eight years and to this union two children were born; Jacqueline Denise Cooks Cannon and Frederick J. Cooks. She later married James Campbell and they were married 41 years before he preceded her in death in 2017. Lottie joined Brown’s Temple Church in Omaha, Texas where she was very active and instrumental in presenting skits. She loved decorating and garage sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Josephine, her husband James Campbell and five of her siblings.
Lottie leaves to cherish her memories one son Frederick J. Cooks (Kathy) of Omaha, Texas, one daughter Jacqueline Denise Cooks Cannon of Naples, Texas; stepchildren Tina Campbell of Mansfield, LA, Chester Campbell of Oklahoma, Letha Campbell of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Moses Cannon, Brandon McGill, Damon Cooks, Cordaro Cooks, Kalisha Moton; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters Mary Alice Jones of Detroit, MI, Josephine Atterberry of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
