Lula Faye (Allen) Minter was born July 24, 1931, to the parentage of Marshall and Daisy (McGill) Allen.
Lula accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of the Piney Creek Baptist Church where she served as Musician.
Lula attended Booker T. Washington High School and then Prairie View A&M University with a master’s degree in Education. She taught school at the White Oak Community School for 6 years and 2 years at Booker T. Washington until desegregation. She was employed with Mt. Pleasant Independent School District at Frances Corprew Intermediate School for 26 years until retirement.
Lula was joined in matrimony to Vernon Minter in 1950 and to this union two daughters were born, Alicia Smith and Nancy Beacham.
Lula was the 1st Lady of St. Paul Baptist Church for 49 years and Richland Baptist Church for 36 years. She served as the Musician for both Churches for many years. Lula also was associated with and loved the Cypress District Association. She taught the Sunday School Superintendent’s class until her health started to fail.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Daisy Allen, her husband, Vernon Minter; brother, William Mack Allen; and sister, Ola Mae Jackson. Also preceding her death was her niece of whom she helped raise, Sandra Luster of Dallas, Tx. and other nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Lula leaves to celebrate her memory and legacy, her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Alicia Smith and Nancy Beacham, Patrick Beacham and Frances Zepeda of Mesquite, TX. Three grandchildren, Crystal Alexander of Mesquite, TX, Jasmin Beacham and Titus Beacham of Mesquite, TX.; four great grandchildren, LaDarren Smith of Balch Springs, TX., Jia Gladney, Jayden Boyd, and Jaxen Alexander of Mesquite, TX. Two special nephews that she helped raise, William Michael Allen and Thomas Allen both of Mt. Pleasant, Tx. and a host of nieces and nephews.
