Mrs. Martha Walker Standard was born to Mr. Clay Eugene Walker and Ruth Coffey Walker on September 13, 1940. She was raised by Mr. Willie and Ruth Hood. She attended George W. Carver School in Omaha, Texas. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great – Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Wife and Friend to all she met. She departed this earthly life at the age of 79 to be with her heavenly Father on July 03, 2020.
Mother loved the Lord and enjoyed life to the fullest. She accepted Christ at a very young age. Faithful member of Omaha First Baptist Church, until her health failed. She loved listening to gospel music and many great sermons. She was a “Care Taker” at heart. Loved taking care of people. She not only raised her children, but our children and their children etc. “Another of the World’s Greatest Cooks also!!!
She worked at Pilgrim’s Pride for 40 years till retiring. She then began to give back to the community! She then began working as a Home HealthCare Aid to many in need of assistance.
She enjoyed watching All My Children, Days of Our Lives, Soap Operas, and Family Feud. More importantly, she enjoyed the company of her family and a "Very Special Friend" Mr. Lloyd Walton. Always loved family gatherings. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and devoted friend. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Willie and Ruth Hood; husband IM Standard, Daughter: Darlene Standard, Son: Harold Standard; Beloved (Twin Sister) Mary Green, Annie Mae Turner, Zella Harris, and Sallie Mae Hood. Beloved brothers, Charles Walker, John Hood and Charlie Good. Martha leaves to cherish her loving memory and the continued commitment to live in her “Legacy.”: three loving daughters, Dianne Standard, Mount Pleasant, Texas, Gloria Standard, Mount Pleasant, Texas, Tina Howard (Mardel), San Francisco, CA. Two sons, Larry Standard (Opal), Mount Pleasant, Texas. Charles Standard, San Diego, CA. Twenty grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, twenty-three great-great grandchildren. Her Sisters, Sarah Hall, Mount Pleasant, Texas, Mae Frances Cook, Dallas, Texas, Patsy Mitchell (Alfred) Naples, Texas. Her brothers, Paul Hood (Edwina) Omaha, Texas, Rev. David Hood, (Cindy) Texarkana, Texas, Dr. James Hood, (Grace) Texarkana, Texas, Dr. Mark Hood, (Paula), Tyler, Texas, Adam Hood (Mandie), Sulphur Springs, Texas and Rev. Thomas Hood, Naples, Texas. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
