Melma Rea Brown, entered this world July 4, 1934 in Hughes Springs, Texas to Virgil Brown and Ida Mae Bryson.
Raised in a God-fearing home, she accepted Christ at an early age and united with a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she remained a loyal and devoted member until her passing.
Melma was a dedicated employee at Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation for 39 years.
She was the first child of ten with Trubie Gipson, Virgene Brown, Barbara Sue Jackson, Hazel Bryson, C.J. Brown, Charles Bryson, Billy Bryson, Paul Bryson, all preceding her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Erika Nard, one great great granddaughter Katalya Mosely.
To celebrate her life and to cherish her memories, she leaves her daughter Teresa Gilbert of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her two sons Philip Brown (Kimberly) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Stevie Brown (Tonya) of Denton, Texas; a loving granddaughter and great grandson Trear and Triston Pippins; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; one brother Harold Bryson (Ethel) of Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law Martha Brown, Shirley Brown and Sharmane Bryson; one brother-in-law David L. Godbolt; her BFF Robelia “Patsy” Allen whom the community called “Thelma and Louise”; her caregiver Meloney Gilbert (grand), god son Fredrick Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend.
