Robert Nathaniel Nance

Robert Nathaniel Nance was born on February 19, 1937 in Newberry, South Carolina to Ollie and Vina (Robinson) Nance. He passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Robert attended Gallman High School and later joined the United States Air Force.  He was a member of the Mt. Gilmore Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant where he served faithfully. He worked many years for Dorchester Refinery, Sandlin Motors, and in Human Resources at Trade Resources, Inc.  He served as the Mayor Pro Tem for 29 years of the 40 years he served on the City Council for the City of Mt. Pleasant.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, friend, and mentor. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Russel Nathaniel Nance; five brothers and sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 65 years, Martha Nance, daughter Stephenia Nance, and son Robert G. Nance; grandchildren: Jessica Nance-Shine (Marcus), Carmen Nance (Anterius Beard, Sr.), Robert Nance, III, Reginald Nance, Raven Nance, Quinisha Nance, Tearani Nance (Alton Houston), Russel Nance, Journee Nance, Carrie Nance, Jaiden Nance, Ja’mari Nance, Danielle Simone of Canada, and Delnika Brennen of the Bahamas; eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and another on the way; brother and sister in law Fred and Faye Nance; sister Vivian Faye Dorsey and sister-in-law Geraldine Nance and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
