Obituary
Stevie Joe Evans was born April 6, 1960, to Otis Don Sr. and Barbara Ann (Robertson) Evans, in Mt. Vernon, Texas. He died Wednesday September 30, 2020 in Sulphur Springs.
Stevie attended Mt. Vernon High School Mt. Vernon and worked many years at Texas Department of Transportation where he retired. He was a member of the Denton Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon where he served faithfully. Stevie served as a Deacon and was the Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was also the President of the male chorus at denton and served on the Child Welfare Protective Board. He received an honor from the community as Man of the Year. He loved coaching softball and basketball and spending time with his family and grand daughter ZaKenya. Stevie Joe was fondly called “Blue” by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three brothers Patrick Evans, Otis Evans Jr. (Sambo), Calvin Evans (Squirrel), Terry Evans (Big Cat), his sister LaDonna Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 40 plus years Freda Mae (Gadlin) Evans; two daughters Tyronda Lachelle Evans, Jasmine Ja’Nae Evans granddaughter ZaKenya Tychelle Evans all of Mt. Vernon, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Macie Evans of Mt. Vernon, Texas; sisters Sheila Evans, Tammy Rogers both of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Shara Evans of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
