Videlia Thompson Obituary

Videlia was born February 12, 1935 to Simon Peter and Minnie (Kennedy) Walker in Oakdale, Louisiana.  She passed away, on August 12, 2020 in Austin, Texas. 

She was an active member of the Mt. Gilmore Baptist Church until her health began to fail.  While there, she served in the choir, having served as choir president.  She also served in the Mission Dept, Bible Training Union, and Sunday School.  While in Austin she was a member under watch care at St. James Baptist Church.  She loved gardening and making homemade ice cream.  She also loved family gatherings where she would impart wisdom in all her children along with scriptures and a song.  Her favorite quote was “when you smile the world smiles with you but when you frown the world frowns on you.” 

She was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Minnie, her husband Choice Thompson, Sr., her grandson Twan Thompson, brothers Charles Walker, Samuel Walker, sister Norma Fay Cole as well as two other sisters and one brother.  

She leaves to cherish her memories four  sons and four daughters-in-law Charles Jr. and Jan Thompson of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Arthur and Wanda Thompson of Kansas City, MO, Twilver and Ocie Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Ray and Chandra Thompson of Round Rock, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law Angela and Pastor Larry Kenney of Longview, Texas, Verta Thompson-Malone of Austin, Texas; 21 grandchildren, a host of great  and great great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law James  and Inge Walker of Newark, CA, Thodus and Martha Walker of Mountain House, CA, Freddy Walker of Manteca, CA, Harold Walker of San Francisco, CA, Carl Wayne and Ella Walker of Modesto, CA; one sister and brother-in-law Lovera  and Benjamin Robertson of Hopkins, SC; one aunt Dolly Mitchell of Oakdale, LA; two sisters-in-law Georgia Walker and Jessie Fomby both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; special friend Marshall Joe Dillard of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
